Where’s the beef–in English please

On Action News tonight, I hear that Geno’s Steaks in Philly has a sign up “This is America. When ordering speak English.” hmmm
So isn’t that special…in Philadelphia — SOUTH Philadelphia, no less — city of brotherly love, in a neighborhood with a mix of every ethnicity on earth, this son of Italian immigrants, Joseph Vento only serves English speakers.

So, ok, the guy’s an ass…but…Pat’s Steaks is right across the street.

got me thinkin…

Even though I’m a vegetarian, I am seriously considering making an exception and going downtown and ordering a cheese steak from Pat’s…and letting Mr. Vento know about it.

here’s a link to an article in the Inquirer: http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/14697552.htm

Yep. The best part, I think, is that the grammar on the sign is incorrect. They use quotation marks for emphasis. I’d like for them to work on their own skills before commenting on anyone else’s language, please.
