i don’t like going to my journal and seeing a thing that upset me again. so, instead of looking at the latest annoyance, i just want to let you all know i’m watching the first harry potter movie. those kids were so cute.
much more pleasant, i think.

just thought i’d mention that i’m finishing up my first week of physical therapy. right now they are concentrating on just stretching the back muscles and very basic core strengthening. therapy takes less than an hour and i’d have to muster up a powerful hot flash to even think about breaking a sweat.
and yet…
the back manages to get really sore from the effort.
the other weird thing is the swelling around the incision shifts a lot. sometime its above, sometimes it’s below, occasionally it shifts from right to left. when i lie down it sorta evens out. i wonder if it shifts with the moon? i should check that out. (tides of edema)
ohell…i think i’ll go for a walk. i can DO that now and it’s wonderful.
as most of you know, Kurt Vonnegut died. he was one of my favorite authors and basically, i just liked knowing he was in the world. well, it’s the world’s loss, for sure.
here’s a link to a good obit..

This is the vainest meme ever, but I can’t resist. It’s like listening in when you hear your name in a nearby conversation.
We all have things about our friends that make us slightly envious.
Not in a bad way, but in a “Wow! I wish I had that person’s hair/eyes/money/relationship/toenails/whatever.”
So tell me what about me makes you envy me… then if you feel like it, post this in your LJ and see what makes me envious of you.
wow. i guess i envy your ability to tell stories…to weave words in a way that creates worlds on pieces of paper. i also envy your dedication to climbing and the lovely shoulders you have as a result.
so, there ya go–no need to reply–nothing much to envy here.
an interesting op-ed piece on the ethanol hoax.
oh, we are a gullible group, we americans, lazy in mind and body, we will swallow anything as long as we don’t have to think on it or change our act in any way.

it’s worth going to the links within the article–the one on high speed trains in the beginning of the story is interesting. too bad we never got our transit-act together:
the link to ethanol hoax is very incomplete–the thing i would add that this article glossed over was the predicted complete destruction of forests in indonesia and malaysia as well as the huge loss of land in brazil to grow sugar cane for fuel. no mention also of the cost to the consumer for higher food prices, loss of diversity and soil health with the practice of monoculture planting.
